Considering Amari Cooper is a star receiver, you'd think the Dallas Cowboys would attempt to trade him rather than release him to free agency. However, there are a ton of factors involved in decision-making right now, as NFL teams aren't showing interest in trading for the veteran wide receiver.
According to Yahoo Sport's Charles Robinson, Cooper's contract is keeping potential trade suitors at bay. He's set to make $20 million in 2022, which is a hefty price tag for any team to acquire. For that reason, NFL teams across the league are not too keen on negotiating for the star wideout.
5. Could a Cooper trade still happen? With his $20 million number in 2022, there isn’t huge interest. Teams see a plethora of draftable rookies or other vets as much cheaper options. One wideout starved team said last night they had zero interest in Cooper at his price point.

Furthermore, a plethora of talented receivers is available through free agency and the upcoming NFL Draft. Teams will be able to add a solid receiver on a team-friendly contract and don't want to pay a premium for the Cowboys' top pass option. On top of that, these teams already know Dallas plans to release Cooper, so everyone is willing to wait for that to come to fruition.
There are a ton of exciting rookies showcasing skillsets at the NFL Combine and we're likely to see numerous players join franchises across the league. The Cowboys could also be one of those teams who draft a receiver. At the end of the day, there just isn't a trade market for Cooper right now but he should gain attention in free agency.
Keep an eye on the Cowboys as they're likely to release Amari Cooper soon. Once they do, they'll save a ton of money to spend elsewhere.
