Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders confirmed on Wednesday that he will be returning to the team for the 2019 season.

Sanders has been a great contributor to the team's offense since joining the team back in 2014, but former Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was the team's true number receiver.
Article Continues BelowNow that Thomas is gone, it'll be interesting to see how Sanders can step up and prove he can be the team's leader for the young receiving corps. Sanders was on his way to a fantastic season in 2018, but suffered an unfortunate season-ending Achilles tear and left a huge void behind in the offense. The Broncos offense ran primarily through rookie running back Phillip Lindsay, but it was incredibly difficult for the team to overcome Sanders' injury.
The Broncos are bringing back their best receiver and it's likely he'll have a new quarterback in Joe Flacco next season. It'll be interesting to see how Flacco and Sanders can connect after Sanders and Case Keenum had some nice chemistry. After the Broncos decided to trade for Flacco, he'll look to turn the woeful offense around and Sanders remains a big part of those plans as well.
Denver has a completely revamped coaching staff, but it's clear that the coaching staff is looking for Sanders' veteran presence to lead the way for the offense. The Broncos have hit a rough patch since winning the Super Bowl only a few seasons ago and now find themselves trying to regain their once elite level of competitiveness.
