Denver Broncos tight end Jake Butt has torn his ACL three times, but that isn't stopping him from trying to continue his dream of playing in the NFL.
Butt, who suffered his third torn ACL late last September, is preparing to gradually work his way back in training camp.
“I think going into camp I’m going to be doing more team things: 7-on-7 and team drills,” Butt said, according to Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official team website. “And they’ll slowly work my reps back up to where they were.”
The 24-year-old added that he does not expect to hit the physically unable to perform list, so he should be able to participate in practice.
“I’ll be active,” Butt said. “I’m pretty, pretty sure. That’s what we’ve been talking about. I feel good. I can basically do everything in my mind. So I should be out there with the team.”
Butt, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, was originally selected by Denver in the fifth round (145th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.
However, as a result of a torn ACL he suffered during his senior year at Michigan, Butt was placed on the reserve/non-football injury right before the 2017 campaign began, and later that season, he hit the injured reserve list.
