Melvin Gordon departed the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency last month, but he remained in the same division, signing a two-year deal with the AFC West rival Denver Broncos.

That means Gordon will be facing the Chargers twice in 2020, and the running back is already excited to see his old team.

“It will be dope,” Gordon told reporters in a conference call late last month, via Jon Heath of Broncos Wire. “I’m excited. I was with those guys five years — great relationship with all of those guys. It’s going to be crazy. It’s going to be electric. It’s going to be a lot of trash talk. I know them. I know the defense. They’re definitely going to let me hear it. I’m going to let them hear it as well. It’s going to be fun.”

While Gordon wants to win, he says that he harbors no ill will toward his former club.

“It’s definitely going to be a war out there,” Gordon said. “It’s definitely going to be exciting. Those are still my brothers. Still love those boys. Our bonds go beyond football. Obviously, it’s business when we’re out there. Obviously, I’m not with them anymore so I’m going to do whatever it takes to win.”

It seems hard to believe that Gordon won't have any extra juice against Los Angeles, considering the two sides engaged in a contract dispute in 2019 that carried over into the first several weeks of the regular season.

Gordon ended up playing in 12 games this past year, rushing for 612 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging just 3.8 yards per carry in what was his least productive season since his rookie campaign in 2015.

The soon-to-be-27-year-old made a couple of Pro Bowl appearances during his time with the Bolts.
