Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has long been one of the best defensive players in the league, but new Broncos head coach Vic Fangio thinks he can get even better.

“I’m very excited to work with Von,” Fangio told Pro Football Talk Live, per Michael David Smith. “I think Von, who’s had a great career up to this point, I think he can play even better than he has and we’re going to try really hard to lead him to that, and excited to work with him and his talent level.”

Miller is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he racked up 48 tackles, 14.5 sacks, an interception, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and four passes defended en route to his fifth straight Pro Bowl appearance.

Fangio is also looking forward to the opportunity of coaching the tandem of Miller and Bradley Chubb.

“Now you’ve got a guy who’s all fastballs, now you’ve got a guy with a slider and changeup,” Fangio said. “Bradley is more power-based, Von is more speed-based, the more you can change up on tackles, the better.”

Miller, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M University, was originally selected by the Broncos with the second overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

He immediately showcased his talent during his rookie campaign, finishing with 64 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles, earning a Pro Bowl selection as a result.

The 29-year-old has recorded double-digit sack totals in all but one season, with that one year coming in 2013 when Miller was limited to just nine games due to a suspension.
