In the weeks that have passed since the Oakland Raiders traded All-Pro defensive end Khalil Mack, there have been plenty of reactions around the league. The latest has come from Denver Broncos star outside linebacker Von Miller.
Miller took a subtle shot at the Raiders by voicing that the Broncos franchise did a great job handling his new contract extension in a timely manner to keep him in place the last several years, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic.
More from Von Miller to Oakland media: "I’m with a great franchise right now. They love me. When it was time for me to get my contract, they did right by me. I’m sure they’ll continue to do the same in the future.”

Miller was in a similar situation as Mack with the Raiders, but instead of keeping him under the franchise tag for the 2016 season, the Broncos inked Miller to a then-record-setting six-year, $114 million extension that runs through the 2021 season. Denver didn't waste any time committing to Miller, as the Pro Bowler had already established himself as one of the league's best players at his position, putting up four double-digit sack campaigns in his first two years in the league.
He has since proven to be more than worth the deal, as he has continues to perform at an elite level, putting together a pair double-digit sacks campaigns in his first two years after the extension. He is also off to a strong start this year with 3.0 sacks in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. Like Mack, Miller is a game-changing talent that put himself in position to receive a lucrative contract through his play on the field.
Ultimately, the Bears could greatly benefit from the Raiders' decision to deal Mack over the next several years under his six-year, $141 million extension. Time will tell if this was the right move by Oakland instead of working out the massive contract he received from Chicago.
