The Denver Broncos have ushered in significant changes this offseason. Regardless, linebacker Von Miller retains high expectations for himself.

Miller made it clear that he has his sights set on breaking Bruce Smith's NFL record for career sacks. According to Lila Bromberg of USA Today, Von Miller is excited to meet his lofty goals:

“Whenever you set out to do something, you just want to be the best,” Miller said. “I’ve got an opportunity to do something great.”

It is encouraging to see that Miller is optimistic going into the 2019 NFL season. He let it be known early on that he intended to break the 20-sack mark next year en route to passing Smith's all-time record. His highest total is the 18.5 sacks he registered in 2012. He has since made a habit of recording double-digit sacks every season. Regardless, he seems to be aware that he will need to ramp up his efforts in order to put himself on pace.

Fortunately, the new changes could benefit Miller. The Broncos welcomed new head coach Vic Fangio this offseason. There is plenty of hope that he can replicate the work he did with the Chicago Bears after turning their defense into one of the most formidable groups in the league.

Regardless, not much is expected out of Denver this offseason. The Broncos were recently projected to go a mere 2-14 in 2019. Of course, this has only added more motivation for Miller. It will be interesting to see if he can follow through on high own high expectations.
