The Denver Broncos are still looking for their first win of the 2019 NFL season. Regardless, linebacker Von Miller is still doing what he can to take an optimistic approach to their Week 4 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jaguars rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew has generated plenty of headlines with his play coming into Denver. Miller is looking forward to executing against their offense this week, via Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk:
“I feel good,” Miller said. “Got a great week of preparation. Got great teammates, great coaches. Excited about the opportunity this week versus the Jaguars. Got a great game plan in. I’m excited to play.”
Miller kept his presser short and sweet after walking off the podium soon thereafter. Although he is attempting to say all the right things thus far, it is clear that some frustration has set in following an 0-3 start.
It is no secret that the Denver defense has fallen vastly short of the hype generated this offseason. Even Miller solidified these notions with his high expectations for both himself and this group as a whole. Unfortunately, they now find themselves on the wrong side of NFL history for their failure to register a sack or a takeaway through the first three games of the season under new head coach Vic Fangio.
The prospect of a team with such talented edge rushers in Miller and Bradley Chubb going this long without a sack seemed extremely far-fetched. After all, the pair had combined for 26.5 sacks during the 2018 campaign. The veteran has clearly run out of patience and will be looking to end the drought at Mile High Stadium this week.
