First-year Denver Broncos coach Vance Joseph is someone who should probably be more careful with his words. Following his team getting blanked this weekend by an iffy Los Angeles Chargers team, Joseph backed his gunslinger while hurling his running game under the bus.

“It’s the running game,” explained on Monday afternoon. “In our three victories, that’s where it started. We were in firm control of how we attacked the defense. When you’re behind the sticks so much — in our three losses it’s been that way. First down is a stuff, second down is a quick pass, incomplete, and now we’re third-and-10. Who wants to operate like that? Again, it’s a unit issue. We have to coach better and we have to play better, all of us.”

Oh… how about hurling one of the best offensive players Denver has under said bus?

“Again, it’s not just C.J. (Anderson),” Joseph explained during his news conference on Monday afternoon. “We have three backs playing and I thought the backs ran the ball hard yesterday. When there was space to make yardage, they did. When there wasn’t, they didn’t. I’m not down on C.J. Again, the offensive issues are a unit issue.”

For the trifecta, let's now give an unjust backing to a quarterback who hasn't been good in four weeks:

“Trevor Siemian is our guy…. We all have to do more to help the offense get better.” Vance Joseph said after being asked about the QB situation.

For the season, the Broncos are averaging 114.5 rushing yards per game, (15th in the league) and 4.1 yards per carry (17th in the league), and they have scored only 3 rushing touchdowns (t-20th in the league).

What would probably help the still fine running game is a competent quarterback…
