Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has never kept it a secret how urgent it is for his team to sort out its quarterback quandaries. In fact, Miller has an idea on which quarterback the Broncos should be going after in the offseason. In a recent appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show”, Miller said that (likely) soon-to-be ex-Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is high on his wishlist for Denver.
Miller did not stop there. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Miller ramped up his wooing of Cousins by enumerating a number of reasons why the signal-caller should consider moving to the Mile High City during an appearance on PFT Live.
“We’re a winning organization,” Miller said. “We’re a winning franchise. History has shown that. We have an elite defense right now. We have great leadership right now. We’re consistent with winning. Some teams are winning right now but history shows that it’s just not consistent. We have a consistent winning organization. It’s the [Rocky Mountains]. We have the best fans in the National Football League. Why wouldn’t you want to be a part of that? Plus, he’d be in the locker room with a guy like me.”
Cousins has become one of the hottest names in the NFL right now following a trade that sent Alex Smith from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Redskins. With Smith now in the nation’s capital, Cousins is now viewed as an expendable asset for Washington, which apparently has no plans of giving Cousins a new contract after two-consecutive years of franchising the former Michigan State signal-caller.
Denver utilized three quarterbacks in 2017 but no one from the trio of Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler, and Paxton Lynch had demonstrated the ability to become the team’s franchise quarterback. Should Denver succeed in getting Kirk Cousins, the Broncos will have someone who could truly elevate the team’s offense that ranked just 27th in 2017 in scoring with just 18.1 points per game.
