Earlier this weekend, it was a real possibility that the Detroit Lions would be without Jared Goff for the second straight week. Those fears became real with Detroit announcing that Goff would be among seven inactive players for the Week 17 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.

The good news for Detroit is that D'Andre Swift is not on the list of inactive players. He will lineup behind Tim Boyle for the second consecutive week. Swift was dealing with a shoulder injury and has not played since Week 12. Now, the Lions' dual-threat running back will return to action.
Goff started the 13 games for the Lions this season after being traded by the Los Angeles Rams. He has predictably had one of the worst years of his career, throwing for 3,007 yards, 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Although he has developed some promising chemistry with rookie wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, the two-time Pro Bowler has led one of the worst offenses in the NFL.
In two starts this season, Boyle threw for 264 yards, one touchdown and three picks. There aren't any real expectations for him to excel, anyway. In fact, it could benefit Detroit to lose today in order to stay in the race for the top overall draft pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars lost badly today and would clinch the top selection with a Detroit victory.
