The Detroit Lions are going to have a new-look offense in 2021 and they've added another tight end to the roster. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Lions have signed Josh Hill, giving the Lions some aid at the tight end position.
The #Lions signed former #Saints TE Josh Hill, who has a relationship with new Detroit coach Dan Campbell from New Orleans.

Hill was recently released by the New Orleans Saints as they attempt to get under the salary cap ahead of free agency. The veteran tight end spent the first eight years of his career with the Saints, where he was solemnly utilized in the passing game.
Throughout his tenure with New Orleans, Hill never had a season where he eclipsed 25 receptions or 230 receiving yards. Provided that, the decision to sign Hill goes to show that the Lions are likely focused on improving their run blocking for D'Andre Swift rather than give Jared Goff a reliable pass-catcher.
With Detroit choosing to not use their franchise tag on Kenny Golladay, there's a decent chance that Golladay, Marvin Jones, and Danny Amendola all depart in free agency. That would mean that the top three wide receivers for the Lions from a season ago would be headed elsewhere.
Following his release from the Las Vegas Raiders, Detroit has already come to terms with Tyrell Williams. Williams will give Goff a vertical threat in the offense, barring he's able to remain healthy in the upcoming season.
Heading into the 2021 season, T.J. Hockenson is expected to have a breakout season for the Lions at the tight end position. While Hockenson dominates targets at tight end, Detroit has now brought in Hill, giving them a formidable run-blocking tight end in hopes to improve their rushing attack.
