The New England Patriots recently parted ways with wide receiver Dontrelle Inman. Fortunately, it appears there is no shortage of interest in his services.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he is slated to meet with the Detroit Lions this week:

Former Patriots WR Dontrelle Inman generated immediate interest upon being a free agent. Source said he’s slated to visit the Lions in the next day or so, with Detroit seemingly always taking an interest in available free agents.

Inman had been part of a deep receiving corps competing for a job in New England this offseason. The reinstatement of wide receiver Josh Gordon is likely what resulted in his subsequent release. Regardless, he could now have a chance to bounce back with Detroit for the 2019 NFL season.

The Lions have put an emphasis on trying to shore up their depth in the receiving corps with the signing of Danny Amendola this offseason. Unfortunately, this group suffered a blow after wide receiver Jermaine Kearse suffered a leg injury in the preseason opener. Detroit is now hoping to add another potentially viable option to the mix.

Wide receiver Kenny Golladay has generated plenty of hype this offseason as the new No. 1 wideout on the passing game. Meanwhile, Amendola and wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. are slated to serve as the complementary options to Golladay. Inman could very well have an opportunity to compete for the No. 4 spot in the offense.

Even if he does sign, he will not have very much time to find his footing heading into the regular season.
