Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins took to Twitter to congratulate Jeff Okudah after the Detroit Lions made Okudah the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Haskins and Okudah were teammates at Ohio State in 2017 and 2018.

Technically, the first three players in the draft are Buckeyes.

Top pick Joe Burrow began his collegiate career at OSU before transferring to LSU, and then Chase Young went to the Washington Redskins (where he will team with Haskins) and Okudah went to the Lions.

Detroit had been listening to offers for the No. 3 overall pick for some time. But they apparently did not receive any suitable offers. As such, they took the guy most evaluators feel is the best cornerback in the draft.

Okudah was a menace in coverage for the Buckeyes last season. He had three interceptions and nine pass deflections en route to being named 2019 Consensus All-America.

Okudah also is quick on his feet when it comes to the media.

It is not a surprise to see the Lions address the secondary, especially after trading lockdown corner Darius Slay earlier this offseason.

Detroit ranked 29th against the pass in terms of defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA), according to Football Outsiders. But they now have a solid duo of outside corners after signing Desmond Trufant and drafting Okudah.

While Okudah will hope to play a significant role in Detroit's overhaul, Haskins is hoping to make strides in his sophomore campaign.

Young gives the Redskins a very strong defensive interior, but they need better quarterback play from Haskins in order to improve in 2020.
