The Detroit Lions are not exactly known as an organization that consistently wins, but head coach Matt Patricia wishes to change that.

When asked on Pro Football Talk Live when he thinks the Lions need to start winning, he said that it must happen immediately:

“We’ve got to do it right away,” Patricia said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “Everyone’s timelines are now. We understand that. But realistically, I think, for us we’re just trying to build it the right way so that we have sustained success once we get it to where we want to go. Certainly for the fans we’re trying to do that as quick as possible.”

Talk about a coach putting pressure on himself.

Patricia's first season in Detroit did not go all that well in 2018, as the Lions won just six games and Patricia did not exactly endear himself to the media or the club by constantly showing up late for press conferences and team meetings.

But, as far as Detroit failing to make the playoffs in his first year at the helm? That really wasn't all that big of a deal, as no one was expecting the Lions to contend for a Super Bowl this past season anyway.

Detroit has been one of the least successful NFL franchises over the last couple of decades, as the Lions have made just three playoff appearances since 2000 and have not actually won a playoff game since the 1991-92 campaign, when they made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game.
