Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was limited in practice on Wednesday due to hip and back issues, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Stafford is coming off of an impressive performance in a Week 9 loss to the Oakland Raiders in which he completed 26 of his 41 throws for 401 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception.

On the season overall, he has thrown for 2,499 yards, 19 touchdowns, and five picks while completing 64.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 106.

The 31-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was originally selected by the Lions with the first overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft.

He had a rough rookie year, making 10 starts and throwing 13 touchdowns as opposed to 20 picks, and injuries limited him to just three games during is his sophomore season.

It wasn't until Stafford's third year that he finally played all 16 games, finishing with 5,038 yards, 41 touchdowns and 16 interceptions while completing 63.5 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 97.2.

While Stafford has remained a solid quarterback for Detroit, he has yet to have a season nearly as productive as his 2011 campaign since.

Last season, the Tampa, Fl. native threw for 3,777 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 picks, completing 66.1 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 89.9.

Stafford has not missed a game since 2010, so, at the very least, he has been a durable figure under center for the Lions.

Detroit fell to 3-4-1 with its loss to Oakland last week. It will take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
