Find you a person as irrationally confident as Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry. The receiver, for those unaware, had previously stated that Miami would sweep the New England Patriots this season.

Like Tom Petty, Jarvis Landry won't back down.

“Honestly, it’s a pride thing and also, it’s something for us, a mindset,” Landry said, via the Miami Herald. “I spoke about it. They’re a team that I have great respect for always. I know guys over there, Tom. It’s nothing against them. It’s just something that, as a competitor, you want to win. Just like every game, I approach it the same, and that’s the mindset.”

To be completely fair to the receiver, it isn't like he could come out and discuss how badly Miami will get beaten by New England. At the same time, there was never really any need for him to go after the Patriots to begin with. Maybe the Dolphins could have entered the game as an under-the-radar type of opponent. Now they have a target on their back.

For people who like to LEGALLY gamble, bookmakers aren't nearly as confident in Miami as Landry. According to those who set the lines, New England is more than a two touchdown favorite heading into Sunday. That is a relatively huge spread in the National Football League.

Here is the context of the preseason hype from the receiver:

“If you’re a competitor, that’s the way you should feel, and I don’t mind saying it,” Landry said. “It’s time for a change. I have all the respect in the world for the Patriots, and I respect Tom Brady tremendously. But they’re not our big brother anymore.”

Yes. New England is definitely still big brother.
