For Philadelphia Eagles star offensive tackle Lane Johnson, the opportunity to win a Super Bowl title as a player in his life is pretty awesome. However, even though the Patriots have won five championships since 2001, Johnson would rather have a ton of fun in an unfiltered fashion as a champion with the Eagles over winning multiple titles with the Pats organization.
Via an interview with Barstool Sports over the weekend on the Pardon My Take podcast:
“I just think that The Patriot Way is a fear-based organization,” Johnson said. “Obviously, do they win? Hell yes, they win. They’ve won for a long time. Do I think people enjoy and can say, ‘I had a lot of fun playing there’? No, I don’t. That’s just the God’s honest truth.”
Johnson is not taking a dig at the Patriots success, but he feels like he would not fit in one bit if he played in New England with head coach Bill Belichick.

You only get to do this job one time, so let’s have fun while we’re doing it. Not to be reckless, but I‘d much rather have fun and win a Super Bowl than be miserable and win five Super Bowls. But hey, it is what it is.”
At the end of the day, this is a game and Johnson is having the time of his life as a Super Bowl 52 champion with the Eagles' 41-33 victory over the Patriots.
When it comes to having fun as the underdogs who love to prove their critics wrong, the Eagles have certainly passed with flying colors. Dilly dilly, Philly Philly!
