The Philadelphia Eagles finally climbed to the mountaintop for the first time in franchise history after winning Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots. However, there a few questions surrounding the future of a couple key players on the roster this upcoming offseason that could hit the free-agent market.
One of which regards veteran wide receiver Torrey Smith, who had signed with the Eagles on a three-year, $15 million deal that contains options for the second and third years of the contract. According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN, Smith voiced on Saturday that he hopes that the team will elect to keep him aboard for the 2018 season.
“I'm expecting to be back, but I know how the business goes,” Smith said before watching his alma mater Maryland play Michigan in basketball. “There would never be any hard feelings. How can you be mad at someone who gave you a chance to win a ring.”

Smith was a key part of the Eagles offense as a reliable contributor in the passing game. He hauled in 36 receptions on 69 targets for 430 receiving yards and two touchdowns in his debut year in Philly. He was a huge part of the Eagles' push to the Super Bowl recording in 13 catches on 21 targets for 157 receiving yards and a touchdown in three playoff games.
The 29-year-old put on display his trademark traits of being able to effectively stretch the field with his speed and big-play ability. It brings another dynamic to the offense that has proven to be quite a valuable asset to the Eagles' overall success.

On top of that, Philadelphia is a bit tied down in salary in cap space projected to be over $9 million over the league salary cap. This makes it more reasonable to believe that the front office will bring him back at least through the 2018 season given that it may be difficult to find a replacement for him on the open market.
