The Green Bay Packers offense did not exactly put forth a good showing in their season opener last Thursday, scoring just 10 points.

Luckily, the defense was up to the challenge, as it held the Chicago Bears to just three points at Soldier Field in a crucial Week 1 victory, but in order for the Packers to become legitimate Super Bowl contenders, they are going to need more from their offense.

Aaron Rodgers says that Green Bay has made some adjustments this week that should lead to a quicker pace when the Packers play host to the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday:

“We do have some long calls in the plan — that's just the way the offense is,” Rodgers said, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “There's a number of checks for different plays. It's getting that call in and repeating it and going out there and trying to execute as quickly as possible. The great thing about this offense and the communication is we had a great debrief Monday and Tuesday about everything. We made some subtle changes to hopefully help with some of that tempo.”

The Packers are typically known for having a high-powered offense, but last year, they were just above average on that side of the ball, ranking 12th in yardage and 14th in scoring, which played a role in the firing of head coach Mike McCarthy.

Green Bay then hired Matt LaFleur, a young offensive mind who was expected to revolutionize the Packers' offense, but it certainly did not manifest itself in the first game.
But if Rodgers' comments are any indication, we should see some new wrinkles from Green Bay this weekend.
