Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still waiting on his contract extension, which has been talked about all offseason. Rodgers recently remarked that he’s more focused on preparing for the season rather and leaving his new deal up to his agents.
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst has also been asked once again about when exactly the deal will get done. But he still had no updates to provide and also declined to put a definite timeline on a resolution when asked whether it’s a priority to reach a deal before the start of the season.
“I wouldn’t put any timelines on it,” Gutekunst said per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “As long as everybody’s working toward the same goal, we feel positive about it.”
It was reported a couple weeks ago that the two sides still haven’t made much progress in their negotiations.

The Packers should be in no rush to lock Rodgers up to his extension this year. After his current deal expires, they can still use the franchise tag to keep him for up to two more years if they wish. And Rodgers has said on multiple occasions that his goal is to stay in Green Bay for his entire career.
Still, it figures to be somewhat disappointing if the Packers can’t get a deal done with their star quarterback after months of speculation.
