After suffering a torn ACL at the tail-end of the season a year ago, Green Bay Packers all-pro left tackle David Bakhtiari will start the 2021 season on the PUP list.

As Ian Rapoport notes, this means Bakhtiari will miss at least the first six weeks for the Packers.

All updates from Bakhtiari's rehab process have seemed positive so this came as somewhat of a surprise when the news was handed down on Tuesday.

The Packers experienced quite the offseason filled with uncertainty around the future of Aaron Rodgers. The reigning MVP is now back in the fold for the 2021 season in Green Bay but he'll be doing so without his blindside protector to start the year.

Green Bay will be super young up front this season with rookie Josh Myers expected to start at center and another rookie, Royce Newman, could also crack the starting unit on the offensive line.

There could end up being plenty of moving parts which is never a great thing for an offensive line as they try to hammer home some chemistry early on. The good thing going is that Rodgers is able to masks a lot of problems that could pop up.

Bakhtiari starting on the PUP list is a bit deflating but Green Bay has both his long term health and the long term goals of the season in mind by making this move. Bakhtiari signed a very lucrative $105 million extension last November and now the hope is that he'll be back for the second half of the season as the Packers look to make a push for the Lombardi Trophy.
