Brady Poppinga was drafted by the Green Bay Packers back in 2005 and spent eight years playing in the NFL as a linebacker. He played with the Packers from 2005-2010 and even won a Super Bowl with Green Bay in 2010. After his playing days ended with the Packers, he spent one year with the St. Louis Rams and one with the Dallas Cowboys. Heartbreaking news surfaced on Thursday regarding Brady Poppinga's son, Julius, as the 17-year-old tragically passed away from a severe asthma attack.
“On behalf of the entire Westlake High School community, we send our deepest condolences to Julius’ family, friends, teammates, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and interacting with him,” Julius Poppinga's Principal, Jason Branham, said in an email sent out to the school community, according to the Ventura County Star. “At Westlake and throughout CVUSD, one of our greatest strengths is our caring and close community, which makes it all the more important that we continue to support and be there for one another in this incomprehensible time of loss and sadness.”

Julius Poppinga played two sports at Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks, California. He played lacrosse and football, and had missed the last couple weeks of football practice due to this incident. The team will play their first game since the tragic death of Poppinga on Friday against Thousand Oaks High School. It will certainly be an emotional game for both teams.
