The Green Bay Packers are reportedly expected to request an opportunity to speak with New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels about their head coaching vacancy.

It wasn't an ideal finish to the 2018 season for the Packers, as they suffered a 31-0 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions.

That sent Green Bay to 6-9-1 on the year, which marked the second straight losing season for the franchise after eight consecutive playoff appearances.

After firing head coach Mike McCarthy several weeks ago, the team's front office will now turn their attention to finding his permanent replacement.

And, apparently, McDaniels may be one of the candidates that gets a serious look, according to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.

The Green Bay job is going to be among the most attractive in the league due to the Aaron Rodgers factor, so it wouldn't be surprising at all to see the team focus its attention on an offensive-minded coach like McDaniels.

While he went just 11-17 during his head coaching tenure with the Denver Broncos, it's clear that he's going to draw a lot of interest considering the success that he's had with the Patriots.

Of course, McBride's report also suggests that the Packers have interest in Brian Flores, who would offer a more defensive approach given his current job in New England.

There will obviously be more names linked to the Green Bay vacancy, but for now, it sounds like the team's front office is planning to include the Patriots' duo in the coaching search.
