The Green Bay Packers have apparently agreed to retain veteran tight end, Marcedes Lewis, for yet another go-round, according to a Wednesday evening report from Field Yates of ESPN. Per the same report, the Packers will be paying Lewis a base salary of $2.25 million in 2020-21 with Green Bay inking the longtime Jacksonville Jaguars tight end to a one-year free-agent contract.
Both a solid player on the field and a veteran leader in the locker room, Lewis will certainly continue to add value to the Packers organization in more ways than one.
Becoming more a blocking tight end over the years, the 35-year-old Lewis will now begin to gear up for his third season as a member of the heralded Packers. Prior to spending the last two seasons in Green Bay, he notably spent the first 12 years of his NFL tenure as a member of the aforementioned Jaguars. For his NFL career as a whole, Lewis has tallied 393 receptions for 4,697 yards and 34 touchdowns.

However, with current Chicago Bears tight end Jimmy Graham now officially out of the picture in Green Bay, perhaps Lewis can become more of a weapon for future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers in addition to already serving as both a solid blocker and legitimate red-zone target.
The Packers won the NFC North division last season, while Green Bay is expected to compete at a high level once again next season.
