The Green Bay Packers improved to 3-0 after a 27-16 victory over the Denver Broncos, and while the team’s offense has yet to get off the ground yet, the team is still undefeated.
Green Bay wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling was one of the better players for the team against the Broncos, and according to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, his dynamic play will be key in the team’s future.
“I think he’ll look back and realize there were some opportunities,” Rodgers said (via Packers Wire) of a few missed opportunities Scantling had. “One I got a little pressure – I maybe should have stood in there and hit him on a post (and) he dropped a couple. We hold ourselves to a high standard, I’m going to hold him to a high standard. I’m very proud of a couple of the adjustments he made today and we need continued consistency out of Marquez because he’s dynamic with his ability to get down the field.”
Throughout the game, Scantling tallied six catches for 99 yards and a touchdown, which came on a broken play that resulted in a 40-yard touchdown for the young receiver.
Despite the solid day, Scantling did have some crucial drops that could have extended drives. Despite the miscues, it seems as if Rodgers still has trust in him, and as the team continues to figure out their offensive woes, he’ll be one of the bigger pieces in keeping things on a roll.
Up next for the Packers is a quick turnaround, as they'll look to go 4-0 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.
