The Green Bay Packers got an infusion of talent just before their Week 1 clash against the Detroit Lions when they traded for former Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons.
Parsons was waiting for a new contract from the Cowboys and was not practicing in pads while the negotiations went on (or didn't go on, according to Jerry Jones), but he is now back on the practice field after signing a four-year, $188 million contract extension following the trade.

The Packers had to pay a steep price for Parsons on top of that big contract, sending defensive tackle Kenny Clark and a pair of first-round picks back to Dallas. However, if Parsons is anything close to the player that he was over the first four seasons of his career in Dallas, that cost will be more than worth it.
Parsons had also been dealing with a lingering back injury during much of training camp and the preseason, but that seems to be behind him as he gets ready for Week 1 with his new team.
While Parsons will certainly still be picking some things up in the coming weeks as he gets acclimated to the new system, he will still be an impact player on passing downs for Green Bay. Matt LaFleur and company will need plenty of that right off the bat, as they host the Lions in one of the marquee matchups of Week 1.
Coming into this season, one of the biggest questions around the Packers was whether they had enough difference-makers on the defensive side of the ball, but the addition of Parsons fixes a lot of those concerns. The former Penn State star will pair with Rashan Gary on the edge to give the Packers one of the best pass-rushing duos in football, immediately making the Packers one of the few Super Bowl contenders in the NFC.
All eyes will be on Parsons' debut on Sunday afternoon to see how he looks after not practicing much this summer. Regardless, he will still be one of the stars in Green Bay throughout the season and into the future.
