The Houston Texans Week 14 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks turned out to be a brutal loss. This team has officially been eliminated from the playoffs and it's time for them to focus on the offseason. Even so, we take a look at this Texans-Seahawks matchup with some of our Texans Week 14 takeaways in mind.

Seattle controlled this game from the jump. The Texans had no answers for Rashaad Penny while Russell Wilson played like his normal self. Houston's offense didn't do much either, although, they have some positive news from their Week 14 performance.

2021 was never going to be Houston's year, but the front office has plenty to be excited about heading into the offseason. Nico Collins has shown improvement and could be playing a major role next year. Additionally, Brandin Cooks has proven to be an elite receiver who gives the Texans a valuable trade asset. Lastly, Davis Mills has played well, despite the team still losing the game.

With that said, here are three Texans' Week 14 takeaways from their matchup against the Seahawks.

Texans Week 14 Takeaways

3. Nico Collins has all of the potential in the world

There aren't a ton of great players on the Texans' roster, but Nico Collins is a bright spot for this franchise. His rookie year began a bit slow, but he's strung decent performances together recently. Collins is a big-bodied receiver that could become a legitimate threat if Houston develops him properly.

He finished Sunday's game with five receptions for 69 yards. Not an eye-popping stat line, but it's enough for the Texans to get excited about. Considering the team is in rebuild mode, Collins looks like a promising rookie Houston can build around.

2. Brandin Cooks is a valuable trade asset for the offseason

Brandin Cooks is easily the best player on Houston's offense. He ended up with an impressive stat-line of eight receptions, 101 yards, and one touchdown, making him the most productive player for the Texans. Seattle had no answers for Cooks, as he took advantage of the Seahawks' weak secondary.

Considering the state of this franchise, trading Brandin Cooks in the offseason would be a brilliant move by the front office. There are plenty of NFL teams who will show interest in Cooks and the Texans could receive a valuable draft pick in return. That would be the ideal situation for Houston, as they're doing everything to rebuild the roster.

1. Davis Mills looks like an NFL caliber quarterback

Deshaun Watson won't be on this team much longer, but the Texans might have gotten lucky. The front office selected Davis Mills in the 2021 NFL Draft as a potential replacement for Watson. He's had limited opportunities, but Mills seems to have the tools necessary to be a solid quarterback in the league.

He torched the Seahawks for 331 passing yards and a touchdown. Mills' performance wasn't enough for the Texans to earn the victory, but Houston should be pleased with his efforts. Considering how well he's played, it might be a smart decision to build around Davis Mills in the upcoming draft.
