The Indianapolis Colts’ offense, led by quarterback Daniel Jones, continued to defy expectations in the early 2025 NFL season. After a strong Week 1 showing against the Miami Dolphins, the Colts rallied to win 29–28 over the Denver Broncos at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, moving to 2-0 for the first time since 2009.

The Colts opened the game with a 29-yard field goal on their first drive, but the Broncos quickly responded with a touchdown to take an early lead. Despite missing defensive end Laiatu Latu (hamstring) and cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. (concussion), Indianapolis regained momentum thanks to Jones’ arm and composure. His 41-yard completion to tight end Tyler Warren and a subsequent short-yardage sneak helped set up the Colts’ first touchdown of the game.

Indianapolis became the first team in NFL history to score on its first 10 offensive possessions of a season. The streak included scoring drives from Week 1 against Miami, where Jones and the Colts offense executed multiple long drives, including an 84-yard touchdown pass to Michael Pittman Jr. and a 69-yard drive finished by a Jones sneak.

This level of offensive efficiency is unprecedented, as through two games, the Colts have scored on 14 of 17 possessions (82%), the highest rate in the NFL since at least 1980, via ESPN's Stephen Holder.

Jonathan Taylor continued his remarkable form, rushing for 165 yards against Denver, including a 68-yard touchdown run that kept the Colts within striking distance. Jones finished the game 23-of-34 for 316 yards, with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. Tight end Tyler Warren and wide receiver Alec Pierce also made crucial contributions, with Pierce hauling in a 44-yard pass to set up a second-quarter touchdown.

The game’s conclusion was as unusual as it was dramatic. Trailing 28-26 with 3:15 left, the Colts orchestrated a final drive heavily reliant on Taylor’s legs and Jones’ decision-making. Kicker Spencer Shrader attempted a 60-yard field goal that fell short, but a leverage penalty on the Broncos moved the ball 15 yards closer, allowing Shrader to convert a 45-yard attempt for the game-winning points.

Indianapolis’ offense has now gone two games without punting, a first in the Super Bowl era, showcasing outstanding efficiency and consistency. While the Broncos’ offense, led by Bo Nix and J.K. Dobbins, showed flashes of scoring ability, reaching 28 points, the Colts’ offense capitalized on defensive lapses and penalties to maintain their unbeaten record.

The Colts' next challenge will come in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans.
