The Indianapolis Colts are looking to bolster their running back room. Earlier on Thursday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Colts would bring in back Mike Gillislee for a visit; a few days after he visited with the Oakland Raiders. Currently, Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, Spencer Ware, and Jordan Wilkins are at the position.
The 28-year-old Gillislee last played for the New Orleans Saints. In 2018, he played four games to fill the void of the Mark Ingram four-game suspension before being cut. He finished the season with 16 rush attempts for 43 yards and no scores. Before New Orleans, he played with the New England Patriots for a season.
In his debut game with the Patriots in 2017, Gillislee scored three touchdowns. In the next, he ran for another and 69 yards. After that, his production stagnated, as he recorded 104 attempts for 383 yards and five touchdowns.

The Colts aren't desperate for a back. Mack nearly rushed for 1,000 yards in 2018, Hines is a promising third-down back, Ware is a seasoned veteran with production to his name, and Wilkins can change the pace. But, Gillislee may be a needed addition if they do intend on signing him. Though not particularly productive through his career, Gillislee can help Indianapolis find the goal line when the going gets tough; it's what he does best.
