Could Philip Rivers find a new home in the NFL? According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, some believe yes. According to multiple executives, the Indianapolis Colts will explore the idea of signing the Los Angeles Chargers soon-to-be free agent quarterback in the offseason.

Rivers, 38, suggested that he will not retire in the offseason on Sunday. However, he did say that he is pondering the idea of playing for a different franchise if the Chargers were to look elsewhere for a passer. The Colts are a natural fit.

In 2014-15, Colts head coach Frank Reich served as Rivers' offensive coordinator. Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni was the quarterbacks coach. He has familiarity with Indianapolis' coaching staff.

The Colts also may be looking for a new quarterback. Though Jacoby Brissett started hot in the wake of Andrew Luck's retirement, he cooled down midway through the season and never got back up to speed. In conclusion, Indianapolis missed the playoffs despite a 5-2 start to the season.

Brissett has one year left on his deal that has a cap hit of $21.5 million with $7 million guaranteed, according to Over The Cap. 

At this point in his career, Rivers isn't a guy Indianapolis would be looking to build the franchise around. Instead, he's a stopgap option that could help them contend with the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans in the AFC South. If they conclude Brissett isn't their guy, the future Hall of Famer could be the answer.
