Wide receiver Marqise Lee of the Jacksonville Jaguars will hit the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career where will have several teams interested in his services.
According to Adam Thompson of Sportsline, the Jaguars are currently the favorites to land Lee while there are few other surprises in the equation.
- Jacksonville Jaguars 5/1
- San Francisco 49ers 8/1
- Baltimore Ravens 8/1
- Chicago Bears 10/1
- Indianapolis Colts 10/1
- New York Jets 10/1
- The Field 3/1
The Jaguars hold the upper hand at the moment coming off their first trip to the AFC Championship Game in nearly 20 years. The team also appears to be on the upswing with a dominant defense and a strong running game in place to have sustained success over the next several seasons.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers could easily snag the 26-year-old on the open market given their massive amount of salary cap space to provide him a lucrative deal. They also present the opportunity to play alongside promising quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who inked a five-year, $137.5 million deal last week.
Garoppolo has quickly made a strong impression on the franchise winning in each of his first five starts with the team to finish the 2017 campaign. Lee could immediately step in and become one of Garoppolo's primary targets in the passing game alongside fellow veteran wide receivers Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin. The other teams on the list such as the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and New York Jets each need to improve the wide receiver position.
Lee is coming off his most productive season where he had recorded 56 catches on 96 targets for 702 receiving yards with three touchdowns in 14 games played. This includes seven contests with at least five receptions and surpassed 60 receiving yards on seven occasions. When healthy, the four-year wideout has shown the ability to be a high-impact player that has big-play ability. All could help make him one of the more intriguing free agents at his position this upcoming offseason.
