The Jacksonville Jaguars have finally hired their new head coach. After a hot mess of an interview cycle, the front office has brought in former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson. He owns his Super Bowl ring from his days with Philadelphia, which is great for this struggling franchise. However, it seems he was talking with Trevor Lawrence even before the hiring.
According to Adam Schefter, Pederson and Lawrence “already were discussing their future together.” Maybe that's a great omen for the Jaguars, as Doug Pederson developed Carson Wentz into an MVP-caliber quarterback before he ultimately fell off the cliff.

Regardless, this is a decent hire for the Jaguars. Pederson's championship experience is exactly what this franchise needs right now. After dealing with one of the worst head coaching tenures of all time, Jacksonville brings in Pederson to replace Urban Meyer. Finally, this team has some solid leadership in the head coaching position.
The roster still needs some help, but they should be able to improve the team throughout the offseason. Jacksonville has great draft capital along with a ton of cap space. It is still worrying that Trent Baalke is in charge of the front office. However, hiring Pederson is a great first step to getting the Jaguars back to a competitive level.
Jaguars fans should be excited with this hire, even though Doug Pederson's tenure with the Eagles ended in a departure from the franchise. He proved to be capable of leading a young roster to a Super Bowl, which is something Jacksonville fans should be focusing on right now.
