A key member of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ stop unit popped up on the team’s latest injury report. That’s star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who got a limited participant designation during Wednesday’s practice due to a knee injury.

There’s a likelihood that the Jaguars are merely giving the outspoken cornerback some rest after playing through 317 snaps so far this season. That’s 99 percent of Jacksonville’s total defensive plays through five weeks of the 2018 NFL campaign. In last week’s 30-14 road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Ramsey appeared in 69 snaps, the second most he’s logged in a game this year.

Apart from Jalen Ramsey, defensive ends Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue and cornerbacks Tre Herndon and D.J. Hayden are the others from the Jags’ defense who made an appearance on the injury report. Herndon and Hayden are slotted behind Ramsey on the left cornerback pecking order, so hopefully for the Jaguars, both of them will be healthy just in time for Sunday’s showdown with the Dallas Cowboys to act as a contingency plan in case the All-Pro corner gets ruled out.

Perhaps the most notable of all players on the injury report is running back Leonard Fournette, who remains out with a hamstring injury. Fournette is not expected to play for at least another week with some reporting that he could be out until Week 9.

Ramsey has yet to record an interception this season, though, he has 17 tackles to show.
