The Jacksonville Jaguars fell flat in 2018 after making a surprising run to the AFC Championship Game the year prior. Leonard Fournette saw last season as a wake-up call for the Jaguars.

When speaking about last season, Leonard Fournette says the 2018 season “humbled a lot of us” in Jacksonville. The running back is seeing different approaches from his teammates in 2019.

“I think we appreciate last season overall,” Fournette said Saturday. “I feel like a lot of things, individually, we all could have done to get ourselves in better shape confidence-wise coming off a great season in 2017. I think last year kind of humbled a lot of us in some ways.”

“You see in the way guys practice,” Fournette said. “Some guys who kind of [had a] lack of effort, they're not showing it this year. So I think last season kind of woke a lot of guys up.”

In 2018, the Jaguars ended the season at 5-11 after beginning the season with a 3-1 record. Injuries and poor play led to seven consecutive losses at one point in the season.

Fournette had his own issues with a hamstring injury and being suspended a game by the team for an altercation he had with Shaq Lawson of the Buffalo Bills. Regardless, the team quickly began to spiral downward after being one game away from a Super Bowl in 2017.

This offseason, the Jaguars moved on from Blake Bortles and signed Nick Foles. Foles won the Super Bowl in 2017 against the New England Patriots, the team that defeated Jacksonville in the AFC Championship Game.

The Jaguars are focused on getting back on the right track in 2019. At least for Fournette, he sees a different-looking team compared to what he saw in 2018.
