Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee had to be carted off after suffering a knee injury during the first quarter of the team's 17-6 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday.

After receiving a pass, Lee was hit in his left knee by Falcons safety Damontae Kazee, who was then flagged 15 yards for lowering his helmet to initiate contact.

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone had no update on Lee's injury after the game, saying a diagnosis isn't expected to come until Sunday.

“I'm waiting for the doctor to tell me so I can tell you guys, but I know what I see,” Marrone told reporters per Austin Knoblauch of NFL Network. “I'm not going to sit there and say it didn't look bad. It looked bad.”

Lee's Jaguars teammates were visibly concerned by the wideout's injury and looked to console him as he was being attended to be the medical staff.

Lee was one of the Jaguars’ top receivers last season in the absence of Allen Robinson. He caught a team-high 56 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns. And after signing a four-year, $34 million deal in free agency, he is once again expected to play a big role on the Jaguars offense as the leader of that receiving corps this year following the departures of Robinson and Allen Hurns.

A potential injury layoff for Lee would see the Jaguars significantly shorthanded at wide receiver. They currently have Donte Moncrief and rookies D.J. Chark and Allen Lazard in the depth chart behind their returning receivers in Lee, Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook.
