The Jacksonville Jaguars continue their spending spree as they have just acquired wide receiver Marvin Jones. The deal is for two years and $14.5 million with $9.2 million fully guaranteed, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

So far, this is the biggest move that will make life easier for Trevor Lawrence, the projected first overall pick of the Jaguars. As good as Lawrence should be, the team should still work hard to put their quarterback in a position to succeed, starting off by giving him weapons or protection from the offensive line.
Jones is 31 years old and has good size for the position at 6-foot-2 and 198 pounds. While he may not have the highest ceiling compared to other free agents, he has been very consistent in his production. In three of his last four seasons, he scored nine touchdowns each. Had he not suffered an injury in 2018, it probably would have been four straight campaigns.
He is not exactly a true number one option in the passing game, but he will go a long way in bolstering the Jaguars offense. Jones has one of the more reliable hands in the league and should not have too many drops.
As of late, he has been playing more from the slot, which is a testament to his versatility–something that will be welcomed by new head coach Urban Meyer. One of the proponents of this deal was probably Jaguars offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who Jones played for in his stint with the Detroit Lions.
