When it comes to 2017 for safety Calvin Pryor, it simply has not been a very good year for the former first-round pick from the University of Louisville. In an announcement made on their team's Twitter account, the Jacksonville Jaguars (7-4) made the decision to release Pryor in order to make room for defensive end Carroll Phillips on their 53-man roster.

Pryor, who was drafted by the New York Jets with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, was traded to the Cleveland Browns back in early June for linebacker Demario Davis. However, Pryor was cut by the Browns just three months later when he refused to walk away from a fight during practice with Cleveland teammate Ricardo Lewis after head coach Hue Jackson told him to.

On Sept. 8, the day after the fight, Pryor was claimed by the Jaguars but was put on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. After he was activated by the team on Nov. 18, the safety appeared in two games and made just one tackle for Jacksonville.

The Jaguars will host their AFC South rivals in the lowly Indianapolis Colts (3-8) on Sunday afternoon at EverBank Field. Jacksonville and the Tennessee Titans are currently tied atop of the division standings and will face each other during the final week of the season at Nissan Stadium.
