The rebuilding New York Jets are coming off a spirited victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and it seems that they're making more moves to stay competitive throughout the season.

On Tuesday, the Jets signed former New Orleans Saints running back Travaris Cadet, whom they've been targeting since March.

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post was the first to break the news:

Cadet will join a Jets backfield comprised of Bilal Powell, Matt Forte, and Elijah McGuire. New York's running back rotation has not been producing very well thus far, with neither of their three running backs gaining more than 55 rushing yards in any of the three games this season thus far.

On the other hand, the undrafted player out of Appalachian State will likely serve as more of a pass-catching back and a returner on special teams. The Jets are also ailing in the former department, as Powell, Forte and McGuire have combined for just 12 catches and 82 receiving yards.

Cadet should ease into his role in New York rather quickly under the guidance of offensive coordinator John Morton, who spent time with the 28-year-old in New Orleans as the Saints' wide receivers coach between 2015 and 2016. In those two seasons in The Big Easy, Cadet put up a total of 49 catches for 427 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
