The Las Vegas Raiders got embarrassed in Week 14 by the Kansas City Chiefs, 48-9. The Raiders have not looked great for the better part of the last half of the season, but this is the worst that they have looked all campaign long. Losing by nearly 40 points to a division rival is something a team never wants to happen. The Raiders want to make the NFL Playoffs and this was a crucial loss for them.
At this point, it doesn't look like the Raiders can reach the postseason. They have had opportunities but they have failed to convert and have lost too many games in the past 10 weeks for them to make any noise. Unless a miracle happens, the Raiders' season looks about as good as done.
Let's take a look at a few takeaways from the Raiders' disappointing Week 14 loss to the Chiefs.

3. Worst loss of the year
The only other loss that could potentially compare to this is when the Raiders lost to the New York Giants, one of the worst teams in all of football. Losing by nearly 40 points in the NFL is an embarrassment and it showed the Raiders clearly do not care about making the playoffs. If they did, they would have never come out with this type of energy and gotten walloped on the field.
The Raiders have now lost five of their last six games and although every one of them was disappointing, this was by far the most forgettable.
2. Defense?
Article Continues BelowThe defense has been bad all year, but what the Raiders did against the Chiefs was simply unacceptable. The Chiefs do have a great offense, but giving up nearly 50 points to any team in the NFL is a total embarrassment.
If the Raiders want to be successful in the near future, the defense is the number one priority that they need to work on. It has been totally horrible and it gets completely embarrassed by teams with good offenses.
1. Playoffs chances are done
Although their odds were about as good as gone before facing the Chiefs, the Raiders are now essentially officially over. It is another disappointing year for them after it looked like they might have finally figured it out after struggling for nearly the past decade.
A team with this much talent should never be 6-7 and in last place in the AFC West behind a team like the Denver Broncos. The Raiders have weapons all over the field on the offensive side of the ball. The defense, however, has not been able to keep up and that has caused the Raiders to lose too many games this season. The offense has also been too inconsistent at times and that has been a major reason for their struggles as well.
The Raiders are going to have a lot to work on in the near future. If they want to be the team that everybody envisions them to be, this offseason is going to be a big one for them.
