The Las Vegas Raiders own a couple of picks in the first round of the NFL Draft later this month, and it appears that they have a general idea of what they will be doing with their earliest selection at No. 12.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Raiders are looking for a Z receiver (also known as a flanker), and Alabama's Jerry Jeudy seems to fit that mold for them.
Las Vegas is in desperate need of receiving help. The Raiders were supposed to go into 2019 with Antonio Brown heading their receiving corps, but due to a string of incidents in training camp, Las Vegas ultimately released Brown prior to the regular season. That left the Raiders with Tyrell Williams and rookie Hunter Renfrow as far as wide receivers were concerned.
Jon Gruden's club didn't do much to address its issues at wideout in free agency, so it's only natural to assume that Las Vegas will try and patch the holes through the draft.
Jeudy is coming off of a junior campaign in which he hauled in 77 receptions for 1,163 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The soon-to-be-21-year-old arrived at Alabama back in 2016 but made a very limited impact during his freshman season, logging 14 catches for 264 yards and a couple of scores.
Jeudy then broke out during his sophomore year, catching 68 passes for 1,315 while reaching the end zone 14 times.
The Raiders went 7-9 and missed the playoffs in 2019, ending their 25-year run in Oakland. Throughout that time, the Raiders made one Super Bowl appearance and qualified for the postseason just four times.
