Oakland Raiders cornerback Daryl Worley has had a tumultuous time in the NFL. Worley originally entered the league as a third round pick of the Panthers back in 2016, but was traded to the Eagles for Torrey Smith after the 2017 season.

He barely made it a month on the Eagles' roster before he was released due to an arrest. He latched on with Oakland, but was suspended for the first four games of the season. The Raiders took a chance on him, and Worley made very clear recently that he's grateful for the opportunity.

“I'm definitely very appreciative and thankful of everything that they have done for me,” Worley said on the Raiders Insider Podcast, via John Newby of 247Sports. “I just try to pay it back every day, just being the professional that they expect.”

Worley is now playing for defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, and he likes the new system.

“I love the scheme that we are in,” Worley said. “I really feel it brings out the strong points and who I am as a player, and I think, going into year two of being in the same scheme, it should definitely help us thrive and be able to feed off one another.”

Worley ended up appearing in ten games with nine starts last season, before he was placed on injured reserve late in the year. He played pretty well, and the Raiders believe he can be a building block in the secondary.

They placed a second-round tender on him this offseason as a restricted free agent, so they clearly think pretty highly of him. The West Virginia product should get the chance to start in 2019, and he could prove to be a great low-cost pickup for Jon Gruden and the Raiders.
