The Oakland Raiders weren't supposed to lose to the New York Jets, no matter if they were playing in New Jersey or not. However, the harsh reality, for the Black Hole, is that they did just that, as the Jets surprised them in a 34-3 curb-stomping at MetLife.

The Raiders played sloppy football in the defeat. Their head coach, the mercurial Jon Gruden, takes the blame for the loss in which he pulled his quarterback, Derek Carr, in the third quarter.

We dropped passes,” Gruden said in his press conference, via Pro Football Talk. “Hell, we dropped four center-quarterback exchanges in the second half. We missed tackles. We missed field goals. We missed the opportunity to show fans who came out today what kind of football team we are. I’m really disappointed in it. I take credit for all that went wrong.”

After scoring the first three points of the contest, the Raiders were handily shellacked by the J-E-T-S. They went on to score 34 unanswered points.

In almost every metric, the Raiders were outdone by the Jets. New York gained 21 first downs to Oakland's 10; they gained 401 total yards to 208; they averaged 6.7 yards per play to the Raiders' 3.6; New York won the time possession battle 31:30 to 28:30. Ultimately, the Jets popped the Raiders in the mouth in upset fashion.

The Raiders have a chance to bounce back when they face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13. However, if they cannot get a win, in Kansas City, they have to wish their playoff hopes goodbye, despite an impressive string of games leading up to the loss.
