The Oakland Raiders are preparing for the Houston Texans in Week 8 and they've been doing so without Josh Jacobs. The rookie running back missed his second straight practice with the team on Thursday.

Last week, during Oakland's game against the Green Bay Packers, Jacobs had to go to the locker room to get his shoulder looked at. Fortunately for the Raiders, he was able to return to the game with no noticeable limitations; as he rushed for 121 yards on 21 carries.

Nevertheless, his status for Sunday's game against the Texans is currently up in the air due to the shoulder. Over the past two days of practice, Jacobs hasn't logged a practice with the team. As a matter of fact, he's the only player who didn't participate in Thursday's practice.

Trent Brown, Gabe Jackson, and Rodney Hudson all returned as limited participants on Thursday. Jon Gruden has listed the rookie rusher as questionable in Week 8. Therefore, we should find out if he's made any progress in his recovery during Friday's practice session.

This season, Jacobs has accumulated 554 yards on 109 attempts and four touchdowns on the ground. On top of that, he's added nine receptions for 87 yards as a pass-catcher.

There's still a chance that Jacobs is able to play; even if he's unable to practice in any fashion. The Raiders are going to need him if they hope to upset Houston on the road in Week 8.

In the event that the Alabama product is unable to suit up on Sunday, DeAndre Washington would likely get the nod as the starter. Washington has started in just two games in his career and both of them came in 2016.
