The Oakland Raiders were impressed with what they saw during kicker Daniel Carlson's short stint with the team and have decided to bring him back. Carlson was set to become an exclusive rights free agent which means the team would be able to keep him as long as they offered him a contract and it appears that have decided to take that route according to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Raiders issued tenders to their exclusive-rights free agents. K Daniel Carlson, LB Jason Cabinda among those who will return in 2019, sources said. Neither a surprise. As rookies, Carlson had most accurate season in franchise history; Cabinda showed promise with development.

Carlson was drafted with a fifth-round pick last year by the Minnesota Vikings after the team traded two draft picks to move up and get him. Carlson didn't last long with the Vikings going one for four on field goals, and after missing two against the Green Bay Packers that cost them the win, the team decided to move on.
Carlson was then picked up by the Raiders where he thrived. In ten games with the team, he attempted only 17 field goals hitting 16 of them which set the Raiders franchise record for field-goal percentage. He also made all three attempts over 50 yards.
There is no question that Carlson has the talent, and both the Vikings and the Raiders saw it, but with the Vikings competing for a playoff spot last year they didn't have much time for Carlson to work out his issues.
With the Raiders he had less pressure, and he thrived, and it looks like the Raiders might have found their kicker of the future without even having to spend a draft pick on it.
