The Oakland Raiders have made a number of splashes this offseason following the arrival of head coach Jon Gruden. Now it seems they are focused on addressing their areas of need going into the 2018 NFL season.
Among the notable areas of concern for the Raiders has long been the secondary. Fortunately, they have added some depth with the signing of former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Leon Hall, according to ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates:
The Raiders appear to have a deal with veteran CB Leon Hall, who played across the Bay for the 49ers in 2017.
The Raiders and 49ers have shared their player pipeline for some time now. It seems Hall is just the latest addition.
The former first-rounder served as a staple in the Cincinnati Bengals defense before his departure following the 2015 NFL season. Hall has since served in minor stints with the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers over the past two seasons.
The veteran is coming off the least productive year of his career with San Francisco. He registered just 16 tackles and one pass deflection in nine games. However, Oakland is hoping he can provide some much-needed depth to what has otherwise been a lackluster secondary over the last several years.
This group possesses some promising, young talent in cornerback Gareon Conley and safety Karl Joseph, it seems Oakland is focused on adding as much experience as they can this offseason. The addition of Hall comes nearly a week after the Raiders re-signed safety Reggie Nelson to a one-year deal.
