The Oakland Raiders are enjoying their week off during the bye week, but one wide receiver won't be sticking with the team beyond this week. According to Scott Bair of NBC, Oakland has waived Marcell Ateman.

Earlier this week, the Raiders made a move to trade for Zay Jones from the Buffalo Bills. In the trade, Oakland gave up a fifth-round pick to acquire the former second-round selection.
As for Ateman, the 6-foot-4 wide receiver will be looking for a new home for the rest of the 2019 season. Ateman was a seventh-round pick by the team in 2018 out of Oklahoma State.
Over the past two seasons, Ateman has had decent outings during the preseason and was able to make the 53-man roster twice. The Oklahoma State product has caught 20 passes for 240 yards in his preseason career.
On the other hand, Ateman has rarely seen the field during the regular season. The 25-year-old wide receiver has suited up in just eight games in his young career.
Throughout those games, Ateman has accumulated 15 receptions, 154 yards, and one touchdown. As a matter of fact, all of those stats came during the 2018 season; when he started in six games for the team.
Now, with Jones joining the roster, Jon Gruden likely viewed Ateman as expendable moving forward. Currently, the Raiders receiving corps consists of Tyrell Williams, J.J. Nelson, Hunter Renfrow, and Jones (among others).
The Raiders have begun the season with a 3-2 record and are in second place in the AFC West. Oakland will get to see how their new offensive weapon fits in their offense when they face the Green Bay Packers in Week 7.
