Over the last several days, free agent veteran cornerback Vontae Davis has been making his rounds around the league with several different interested teams. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, the latest stop on Davis' tour was with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday morning, right on the heels of meeting with the nearby San Francisco 49ers.

It could be a perfect fit.

The Raiders could make sense for the 29-year-old given their need to address their secondary this offseason. They already parted ways with cornerback David Amerson earlier this month. Oakland struggled against the pass this past season, ranking 26th overall while allowing opposing quarterbacks to hold a 101.8 passer rating, which was the third-highest mark in the league.

The addition of Davis would be a step in the right direction toward resolving their issues in the secondary with a proven cornerback. He has spent the last six seasons with the Colts, establishing himself as one of the better cornerbacks in the league while earning a pair of Pro Bowl selections. He was a key piece of their secondary for the duration of his time with the organization.

Davis' tenure in Indianapolis came to an abrupt end last November after getting into a disagreement with the team about whether his groin injury was severe enough to keep him off the field. He only took the field for five games in the 2017 campaign, which is the fewest appearances he's made in his eight NFL seasons.

The Raiders mark the fourth team that Davis has already met with since being medically cleared from his injury. He has also visited with the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, and Cleveland Browns. What may hold Oakland back from being able to land him is their current salary cap space situation, with just $19.9 million available.

The team may be hesitant to break the bank for Davis given their potential interest in possibly pursuing running backs like Le'Veon Bell and Carlos Hyde in free agency.
