The Las Vegas Raiders may end up being one of the most active teams in the NFL this offseason. With a Derek Carr trade potentially on the horizon, them being linked to Tom Brady, and several other players potentially on the trade block, this team could look drastically different at the start of next season.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently spoke with executives from around the NFL. It appears that the Raiders have two key players who could find themselves traded sometime in the near future. This comes in tight end Darren Waller, and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow.
“Meanwhile in Vegas, I've talked to a few people around the league who expect coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler to continue aggressively tweaking the roster. McDaniels is big on “culture fits” and will want his own guys. Teams will be keeping an eye on tight end Darren Waller and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow in that process.” stated one NFL executive.
This past season, both Waller and Renfrow struggled in the Raiders offense.
Renfrow was limited to just 10 total games in 2022. And when he did take the field, he struggled to produce as he had in the past.
Just one season removed from a 1,000-yard campaign, Renfrow posted the worst numbers of his career. He finished his fourth season with the Raiders recording just 36 receptions for 330 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Over the past two seasons, injuries have limited Waller heavily. He finished the 2022 campaign playing in nine total games. In total, he recorded 28 receptions for 388 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.
Both Waller and Renfrow are still able to play at a high level, and could contribute to any team they are on. If they are in fact done with the Raiders, they could be key playmakers wherever they land next.
