Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah has a case of the fumbles. This is not lost on him, as he is taking responsibility for them, but only after adding a nice caveat in the mix.

“I’m just going to keep doing the same thing I do,” Abdullah said, via the Detroit Free Press. “I play running back, man. I get the ball a lot. That’s no excuse, but it happens. As long as it happens less times than more often, it’ll be good.”

My favorite part of that is when Ameer Abdullah takes the responsibility, then just goes, “but it happens.” Imagine your significant other cheating on you, apologizing, but then sending you a shoulder shrug emoji with a “but it happens.”

Obviously, that analogy isn't really the best to use here, but whatever. We are here for the jokes.

On Monday night, the running back had two fumbles, one of which came when it appeared the Lions were about to score. Luckily for Detroit, the team was playing the Green Bay Packers, an NFL franchise currently operating with its backup gunslinger and not doing so well at the moment.

Fumbles were a big issue for Abdullah as a rookie in 2015 as he had five of them. It appeared as though he fixed those issues this season, as it had been 154 rushing attempts before Abdullah lost his first fumble in the third quarter.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how much Detroit trusts him moving forward for the rest of the season, especially with other talented running backs on the roster.
